Chichester Cathedral Annual Review design 2016
Following the very successful annual review design for Chichester Cathedral last year, Profile Design were again commissioned to design and produce this years publication.
Design for Chichester Cathedral
Because of time constraints this years annual review design largely followed the format of last years report. Because the annual review is primarily image led it was important that this year there was a good selection of very good photographic images. This years cover was an entire image of a section of stained glass window and stone work, the contrasting darker tones of the stonework gave us a perfect area for the gold foil blocked logo.
Annual Report design should be clear, informative and well written, this particular edition is predominantly news lead, with a small section covering the accounts at the end for those stakeholders.
Printing and special finishes
Profile Design had been asked this year to explore special print finishes and materials to add another dimension to the end product, we looked at a whole range of options including Varnishes, Spot UV, Laminating, embossing and foil blocking. Ultimately time and budget restraints lead us to going with a machine varnish on the silk art cover with a gold foil blocked logo. Generally a brochure like this requires an additional 2 or 3 days on top of the print timings, most print companies outsource embossing, foil blocking, laminating etc to specialist finishers. Because these finishing companies often service a large number of printers they are often busy and need longer lead times.
