Chichester Cathedral Book Design
The book design for Flower Festivals at Chichester Cathedral is a recently published project, Profile designed and produced the book celebrating Chichester’s 10th Flower festival since its inception in 1996.
The book is largely a photographic journey through some of the displays that have characterised the event as well as profiles of and perspectives from each of the festivals designers. Profile worked closely with Jean Jackson, the editor, and Craig Sergeant, The Trust Director to create this attractive and interesting souvenir. As well as designing the book we contributed a large number of the images featured in the book from our internal photo library built up over the last three festivals.
With a library of several thousand images to sift through it was no mean task, the one issue we had was that most of the pre 2000 images were non digital so existed as small prints, or were taken with flash by keen amateurs so were not of a suitable quality.
The Chichester Cathedral Flower festival is an awe inspiring event, over 70,000 flowers are used to create the 70 or so displays that will be seen by the many thousands of visitors over three days. Described as “The Gold Standard” of flower festivals, it requires a small (or not so small) army of volunteers to put together.
As a design company, Profile have been producing a range of marketing materials for the event over the last 6 years including;
Design Services
Poster Design
Leaflet Design
Programme Design
Sign Design
Display Materials
Photography
Print
Profile design have acted as designers for Chichester Cathedral for many years, it is an absolute privilege to work with the team there and equally a unique pleasure to be working in and for such an awe inspiring building where for 900 years the citizens of Chichester and the region have come to pray and worship.
