Chichester Design for City Walls
Chichester City Walls
The Walls were constructed by the Romans in the late 3rd century. Despite the historical significance of the Chichester City Walls they sit amidst the hustle and bustle of modern day Chichester, something of an unsung hero. Profile have been commissioned following competitive tender by City Walls Partnership and Chichester District Council to bring the story of the Walls to life.
The design project is significant not only requiring the development of a brand style to be applied to the design and artwork of various printed items but also the design of interpretive material and signage to help people understand and navigate the Walls trail. There are also requirements for specialist illustration, professional photography as well as liaising with a number of external specialist contractors who will produce the hardware for the Panels, plaques and pavement markers. All this requires experience of very varied production methods and artwork requirements – which fortunately we have at Profile design.
Profile design are currently working on a range of products designed to raise the profile of the Walls including:
- A visitors leaflet
- Brochure design for residents of properties that adjoin the Walls.
- Souvenir guidebook.
- Teacher kits including lesson plans
- Website design with downloadable resources
- Interpretation panels and plaques to be installed at key locations.
- Pavement markers to be installed around the trail
One of the joys of working on project like this is the opportunity to leave a bit of design legacy as the pavement markers in particular should be in place for many years if not generations to come. It also gives us great pleasure to see the various information panels being read by visitors to the City.
